740 Radio Code

I tried too many times to guess at the radio code on my 1991 740.
Now the radio has locked me out with an EEE message.
How do I get around this?
I tried unhooking the battery for half an hour.No luck.

Then I read the owners manual which says "After 3 unsucessful attempts the set locks for 2 hours. The unit must be connected and turned on during this time. Enter the code again once this time has elapsed."

Can anyone explain what they mean, or at least how to overcome the lock out?

If you have forgotten the code, bring the VIN to a Volvo dealer. They have a database that ascertain the code from the VIN.

it means you have to leave the radio on for 2 hours to clear the lock so that you can enter a code again.
