B21 bored to 2.3 liters: ' turboable' ? 200 1979

Good very early morning, friends...

Will a B21 block bored to 2.3 stand up to being turboed ?

Thanks and have a good Saturday...

B21 bored to 2.3 liters: ' turboable' ? 200 1979

I wonder about this.

Seems that I have read that the cylinder bores are designed at the factory as 'elliptical' ?? - and that as the motor heats up - they expand/contract to the pistons for that perfect seal - or whatever.

Then again, I may be dreaming - or have dreamed this up. But if I did read that - I wonder how a local shop might get that same 'factory' spec ??

Just ?? 'wondering' ...and then again it may be something that I have read about B230 motors.

I have never heard of elliptical cylinders in any engine, except one that is worn out. Some air cooled engines are manufactured with a choke in the cylinder bore. Since the cylinder is hotter near the top, and expands more at the top, the bore is manufactured with tighter clearances at the top of the stroke. This is to give uniform cylinder dimensions under operating conditions. This is not done on water cooled engines.

Appreciate that, John.

Must have been that spicy food I ate before I logged on.
