Hex head Sockets Questions - Any import and domestic Auto Techs out there?

I need a set of hex head sockets (not sure?). So far I have only needed to use a 3 mm for the TPS switch, and a 10 mm for the CAT plug to test the cat/exhaust system. I had some metric Allen Wrenches from years ago that have proved useful so far, except that I cannot use them to meet any torque requirements (I'm a dedicated torquer).

I saw a set of six hex heads in metric, 4 mm thru 10 mm (without a 9 mm) for a good price, except that the only one I have needed in the set would be the 10 mm. There is no 3 mm for the tps switch, and I would have to purchase it separately. I also wonder if I will likely need or likely not need to use any sizes over the 10 mm for automotive work? ... (I have and use many fractional sizes for appliance repairs, plumbing, tool repairs, etc., but I do not use any metric for those tasks.

So I figured that if 3mm and 10 mm are the only sizes I am going to use on "ANY" vehicles I will ever own, then perhaps I owuld be better off buying just those two sizes and save the extra money for other tools I will surely need.

Opinions need from pro import and domestic techs.
Thanks--diyer

I agree with Steve. I have a set of Snap On SAE hex drivers and a set of Craftsman metric drivers. The Craftsman tools are perfect for our needs, and you can buy them individually -- and even on Sunday when you're in the middle of a crisis.

I don't recall which sizes I use mostly, but Sears has a nice set of 3/8 drive allen sockets in useful metric sizes. You can also buy them singly.
