2500 mile trip with U-Haul and 245 SW!! 200 1993

GRACIAS to all who helped with suggestions...my 2500 mile, 4 day trip with the 4'x8' U-Haul trailer went off without a hitch (heh, heh). Brownsville, Texas to Providence Rhode Island.
Traffic was very slow around DC and Baltimore, otherwise 65 mph all the way.
Anyone who is thinking of using their venerable 240 to pull a trailer long distance, DO IT!

2500 miles at 65mi/hr. Oh dear, that sounds like a long long ride. I just nipped down to France from Norway (1500mi), Italian tune up all the way through Germany. Just set the cruise to 100mph and let her ride. Not so good for your mpg btw.

Yeah Raid, thanks a lot... I get this blast-furnace AZ heat, you get cool RI breezes. My "conservation of Volvos" theory continues to hold true - one departs New England for the desert SW, one departs the desert SW for New England.

You are now a near-neighbor of Aye Roll and fcpgroton, and not much farther from the esteemed Don "Resolder the Relay" Foster. You and your Brick are in good company.

And you are welcome to stop by any time. My house is the one with the driveway, street, and surrounding neighborhood full of Volvos!
Uh seriously if you want to get to FCP Groton, see the site for Eurocars Plus (www.eurocarsplus.com) for directions- after checking out the 242 Convertible, and the immaculate 164E, FCP Groton is just a bit further down the road.
You can email me if you want to stop in or need to locate something for your car.

It's actually about 50 miles from Providence.
Glad you made the trip safely El Raidman!

I'll bet Rob showers more than once a month.....

If you visit, you gotta take an old Volvo with you, and I choose the one you take. House rules.

Nice going. Welcome to the rust belt*, where the upholstery fades slower and you can still find some good rubber parts in the boneyards. I was surprised to find a two-door drivers side window scraper on an 82 in what appears to me, perfect shape. Thought I'd be hunting that for months!

* apologies, again, to those who live where oiling interior body components is routine rust delaying tactic.
