I was wondering if there ever was a die cast model of a VOLVO 244 any year, ever produced?
Where would one look for a die cast collectable car?
Any and all help would be nice. THANKS!!and don't worry about my spelling.

I find myself looking at the hotwheels just curious to see if they would have one, but no luck so far Kevin. I doubt a kid would want one :-) Anyway, I will try to do a search... if I find anything I will send you an address or whatever will be helpful.

Hey Kevin... how's that job going anyways? I thought it would be great to work there and be the first to get to the Volvo's. Is that true? :-) I don't need the lock and key. This one is working out fine, even w/out the locking key, I don't even lock it up. It's great that you offered and I appreciate it. I think you might have to go to some specialty to find a volvo hot-wheels. Maybe you'd be able to find a newer Volvo hotwheels (since Volvo's have become the race car these days?). Finding a 240 hotwheels is just as bad as trying to pass one up on the freeway. Seem to be a little too rare sometimes. I washed and waxed my car to take some pictures... before I knew it the next day the monsoon had come and filthied the thing up, so you WILL have pictures of it SOMEDAY. Hey, talk to you in the later...

WoW, that was cool, a glimps that something is out there.
I always forget about the auction sites.
Every time I'm in a department store, I try to see the hot wheels/matchbox cars, in hope of seeing a VOLVO, single or in kit pack. But I never see one. SAD!
I also have been looking into the real hobby shops as well, for plastic model kit of a 240, new or old, any MFG CO. No luck there either. SADDER!!!
Thanks!! for the swift replys, their really helpfull.

Funny you should ask ... I've got three models adorning the top shelf of my bookshelves. A 244, a 245, and one of (if I recall right) the first model Volvo (some sort of open roadster -- sort of looks like a Model T Ford???).
They're all sort of cheap, a flimsy plastic with no moving parts (e.g., doors don't open or anything like that).
I think I bought them from the parts dept. of my local Volvo dealer, if I'm not mistaken -- must have been a decade ago (i.e., the two 240s have '86-93 style headlights).

Matchbox released a die-cast 245 (late-70's vintage) in a race-car set. This is the larger scale "Road Kings" line, approx 1/43 scale. Probably actually a little larger than the standard 1/43. The set I've seen included a metallic blue 245, a trailer, and a Formula-type race car. I've seen it offered on Ebay.
The closest thing I've seen in a sedan is a Polistil 1975 164E (1/43 scale, BEAUTIFUL detail) and a cheesy 164E in MAtchbox-sized (1/70?) by some Korean/Taiwan companies.

A quick check on Ebay turned up this one and another GLT dealer promo model:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3138968479&category=2592
These were plastic molded kits, larger than 1/24 scale, with ok detail but no opening doors, hoods or other features. They're way cool. They were only available at the dealers or through the accessory catalogs.

You can try (www.minichamps.de) I know that they carry as many as 35 Volvo models, but I am not sure if they would have a 244. Fred

I don't know if matchbox ever made a model of a 244, but they might have back when matchbox was a british company making models of ordinary european cars (Ford Zodiac, Austin 1100 Peugot 403 etc), it is possible that they made a Volvo 240, but it would be hard to find.
Wiking, the german company that makes HO scale model cars made a 240, it is plastic and not as well detailed as one of the Herpa HO scale models (they make mostly stupid luxury cars and exotics - not really usefull when one is trying to make a realistic model railroad layout), but one could paint it.
