Is there a light package or panel or something that can be put in between the tail lights on a 244?

It's called a rear decor panel Part # 1394852-6 about $125-135 new. Call Beechmont Volvo 1-800-255-3601 ask them if they can find you one. I think it is still available.

Yes, a very rare Volvo optional reflective panel was made for both 240s (and model types of 240 as well) and 700s. Very hard to find.
