Hello, Does anyone know of a good Volvo repair shop in or near Baltimore,MD? I need to have a Volvo looked at to see if it is worth buying. Does anyone know of any cool 240's or 260's for sale in this area also? I have always fancied the square car, now I think its time to get one. Do you have any tips on Volvo selecting? I saw a 960 turbo that I am intrested in, any down falls with that model? Thanks, Ben G.

Hey There, I don't know of any Volvo repair shops but on ebay motors I always see great deals on Volvo 240's in and around Baltimore. I would have grabbed a couple except I'm in Mass. Good Luck Sean

THere are two independent shops in Baltimore that can probably help. One is K&S on Falls Road. The other I'm blocking on, but they support WYPR, the public radio station there.

That said, I go to none of the shops or dealers in Baltimore unless it's absolutely necessary. I haven't had much to do on either of my 960s, but when its required I go to a small independent general garage in Federal Hill or drive it to Champaign, IL for major work if possible. I think that Baltimore auto dealers and K&S all try to sell you more than what you asked for. Bring it in to do one thing, and they'll give you a laundry list of other things that are on the verge of collapse and to continue to drive your car would be suicide. At least that's been my limited experience. I think the most reputable deaerl is in Bel AIr, a hike away.

I'm also trying to decide what the 960 turbo badge is. I don't think it is a Volvo USA car, nor a 6 cilynder engine, but it has been explained before. I just can't recall...

I have not dealt with them for repairs but I did notice that when he moved his shop his flow of vehicles did not decline.

There is a black 740 Turbo wagon ('91 ?) for $3,850 or OBO .... in Finksburg along Rt 140.

Ben, take a look at the 700/900 FAQ under the "Features" selection. There was some info on some things to look for in a 960, including the 960 turbo. Not sure if you checked it out, but might give you some kind of idea. Your Volvo hunt sounds fun.
