Trunk Lid 200 1982

Hellp,

Just a quick question. Would a trunk lid from a 76 240 fit a 82 DL (2 door). Thanks.

Mario

Correction. A 1975 240. Thanks

If I recall, the 75-78 trunk lids are styled much different from 79-85.

You are correct sir.
The 75-78 240's shared their trunk lid design with the 140/160. It's basically flat and has the lock on the rear body panel. Look in the archives for a rear shot of a 142, 144 or 164.
The 79-85 cars have the rounded trunk lid, with just a key cylinder in the lid. The 86-93 sedans have a larger square hole in the lid, with the lock cylinder in the middle of a big rectangular pushbutton. The shape of the lid on the 86+ cars is the same as the 79-85 style. The lock is not interchangeable however.

The shape is similar, but they are not the same. The top of the trunk lid on a '79-'85 sedan is flat...the '86+ is rounded. They are interchangable as whole units, however.

Here's a flat trunk on an '83:

Here's a curved trunk on an '87:

I think it would fit, but latch/lock mechanisms may be different, hopefully swappable. Far as I know there were no major body changes to '86.
