'86 760 Turbo 700

Hello- I have a rare opportunity to save a Volvo from the scrapper. It's an '86 760 Turbo sedan, 255k miles, ok condition, and it's about to be donated by my friend's parents. She believes I can give it a good home, so she said I can take it for free. However, she admits that the car has seen better days- it needs a turbo replacement, catalytic converter, brakes, and it shows a little surface rust. I've heard that 1986 was a good year for Volvos in general. Any thoughts?

Hi Juan,

Well, you can't beat the price..., but be prepared to spend a lot of free time and most likely $1,500-2000 to get everything in good working order. That is if you are a DIY'er and you have access to a good pick-a part yard where you can get Volvo parts for cheap. Otherwise you better pass on it...

Good Luck,
JJ

p.s. the 86 suffers from the bad wiring harness! Turbos can be rebuilt for $300-400
