B230 T.B. link rod plastic end caps 200

89, 240
91, 740
95, 940

The plastic end clips/caps on our 740's Throttle body Link Rod have broken off. The link rod still appears to be functioning ok ... The plastic ball shaped cap snaps onto the metal balls fine - not loose or easy to remove. Is it important that the hinged plastic ends be on there? ... the plastic hinges seem to corrode/degrade from the heat/time.

I would try to get a couple of good links from a junkyard. I've only rarely seen them break off, and I've serviced a lot of these. They are thin plastic, so eventually they will fail from use. Failure rate may be worse in hotter locations than here.
Probably only available new from the dealer. Fortunately this piece is common to all 1983-93 240, 84-92 740, and 91-95 940 models. I'd replace them ASAP.

You should be OK. If the ball snaps off the end, the throttle goes to "idle" so you won't go far, but you can always snap it back on and buy another rod when you get home.
