940 orange light stays on 900 1994

I have a 1994 Volvo 940 that has the orange arrow constantly on. Ever since this light came on my car runs rough. It has very little power. What could be causing this and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks for your help. I changed the OD relay and everything is back to normal. Now I working another problem concerning my door lock actuator. Mainly, how to remove and repalce. If you have any advise for this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd expect you have a bad overdrive relay. This is the tall relay in the right front corner of the fuse block. See the 700/900 FAQ for more instruction on getting at it.
The relay just unplugs from the fuse block, you plug in a new one, and hopefully that's the end of it.
There is the possibility that the wiring to the OD solenoid is damaged under the car, but the relay's much more likely.
If you're any good with a soldering iron, the likely failure is cracks in the solder joints inside the relay. Resoldering these will cure the problem many times, and then you have a spare to keep in the glovebox.

That's your overdrive. With it lit up that means your car is not going into OD. There should be a button on your shifter. If pushing it doesnt make the light go out. You may have a bad OD Button or something else.

I'm not familiar with the 940, but the orange light is the overdrive light, and it either indicates that it is on or off ( think this changed depending onthe year), or something associated with it is malfunctioning.
