idle control screw

Can anyone tell me wher or what the idle control adjustment screw is?

Thanks!

It all depends.....

In the olden days, everbody had a carbuerettor, and they all had an idle air bypass screw and a throttle stop, and that's how the tech could set the idle.

Not so anymore, now we have computerized fuel injection, and lotsa different ways to adjust/control idle speed.

Idle is set by a screw, an Idle Air Control motor, the ECU computer, a vacuum valve, a throttle position switch, and maybe even more thingies I can't think of.

To set the idle one must know the year, engine, and maybe the model, too.

Post back with that info, someone will give you the right stuff.

Regards,

Bob

idle control screw 200 1989

Sorry everyone. It is a 1989 240 dl. I recently cleaned out the throttle body and can not seem to find the idle screw to adjust the idle.

Thanks for the help!

The 89 is the first year you do NOT have an idle speed screw. The idle, and timing, is controlled by the computer on the LH 2.4 cars.
They do still need throttle body cleaning, and once it's nice and clean, it should give a good smooth idle at about 750 rpm. The throttle position switch should give a faint but audible click when the throttle closes- if not the idle will be poor. The switch can be adjusted but not until the TB is completely clean.
