Two questions:

1] what is the best formula for venting a 240 via the windows. Should you just have the window down on the drivers side? or both the front windows? or the front drivers side window and the passenger rear window? Or both of the drivers side window. It's hard to determine and it's a pain to have to stop on the side of the road and adjust here and there, it would be easier to just drop the windows and then start driveing.

2] How close do you have to be to a big truck or large vehicle to reap the benefits of 'drafting'? I'd like a little better mileage on big trips.

You could have a frontend shop place your alienment serverly out so that you drive down the road sideways, then you could roll down windows and always have a sidedraft Hey.. I swear I have seen this done :-)

As tempting as drafting may be don't do it... it's way too risky and it will p.o. a truck driver. :-)
I've always found that if you roll down the drivers side window and the back window on the drivers side the air doesn't blow if your face as much. The two windows should be rolled down to about the same level. Seems like Volvo windows are the worst for enjoying the windows down. Sure wish I had a sunroof again... but I didn't want to worry about "another problem" occuring on this one.

With no a/c, I tried a lot of variations on window position. (PW) Over 30 - 40mph, Pass. side 1/4 to 1/2 down, front and back the same. Driver's closed. Makes a sort of whirlwind inside. Turn off the blower, too.

Under 30 mph, like at a red light, crank down the driver's window and hope for a cross breeze.

Good Luck,

Bob

1) I always open the windows on the same side the same amount for highway drives. Seems to get good airflow and not too much blasting in the side of the head. Just one front or back window usually causes annoying booming noises for the person on the other side.

2) You have to be way too close for it to do any good. It works for NASCAR drivers because they're going much faster and they can generally count on the guy ahead to drive the same as them. You'd have to be less than a car length away to get any benefit... unsafe on any highway I've ever been on. Not to mention, a truck driver won't be able to see you if you're that close behind him.
