The transmission controller has detected an electrical or functional problem.

Check the 700/900 FAQs in the 960 section for possible problems and fixes. Likely a bad connection at one of the connectors on the driver's side of the transmission or a bad "PNP" switch on the passenger's side.

'96 965 with 16' wheels at 107K. Had '85 745 Turbo Diesel for 200K.

W = Winter mode Starts in a higher gear 3rd I think, does not shift to 4th

S = Sport mode Starts in 1st and shifts thru to 4 th but each shift point is lower at lower rpm.

N = Normal mode Same as S but shift points are at slightly higher rpm.
