740 Front Brakes 700

1989 740 Turbo with ABS and girling brakes. I bought a set of brake pads from Parts Bin for my 740. The shape of the brake pad was the same as the one I pulled off. But, the spring rivet was slightly lower and the spring looked like the one on your site called Repco 508. Pulled off my shims, cleaned and drilled back of replacements and attached shims with Permetix. Seemed to work well. But on closer exam of pads I took off, the spring comes straight out from the rivet and bends at a 90 degree point (ie. it doesn't dip down and then up before it bends at more or less 90 degrees.

Concerned that I put on the wrong pads, in particularly the spring might not give adequate pressure on the plate. Should I go to the volvo dealer and get the right pad?

Thanks

OK, there's two types of girling pad. One has a ( shape and the other has an inverted W shape. The IPD website shows them pretty good.

I wouldn't worry about the right one if it doesn't rattle and the plates fit solidly on the ends of the caliper (where the braking force transfers to the caliper).
