Brake warning switch.... 200 1987

I own a 1987 240 DL. I have bled the brakes twice, reset the warning switch twice, and still continue to get the brake failure light on in the gauge cluster. Any ideas on what to try next? Any help would be appreciated.

Please explain "resetting" the warning switch. It should be self-centering (assuming a good bleeding and a few hard pumps). If original, the innards may be crappy with rust and stuck in an off center position as a result of bleeding process.

I'll try to load a picture from the Image Library (a first for me, if it works)

Thanks lucid for the pic. It really helps me to understand just what I was sticking that pin in. In following the service manual that I got from the Volvo dealership, it says to remove the warning switch prior to bleeding the brakes. So I did so, then bled all 8 points in the order shown in the book, then replaced the switch. After doing this 2 times and the brake failure light was still on, I decided to do it with the car running, and just start at the first point and bleed each one until the light went out. As soon as I bled the first point, the light went out, so I have stopped there. Thank you very much for your assistance.

Great picture! When I worked for the dealer, we replaced a lot of these. They do tend to get corroded and stuck. You might try cleaning it out. We never tried to repair one, warranties and liability problems being what they are.

Thanks OldTimer, As I mentioned in my reply to lucid, I think I have it fixed now. If the light comes on again, I will plan to remove the block that all the lines come in to and clean it out.
