Are all seals hard to change? 200

Currently I have a 1977 245 which I saved from the crusher and has been my ongoing project since christmas. Right now it doesn't seem to drip much, if any oil, but as we are only revving it up in the garage its hard to tell.

At the moment its parked in my Grandfather's garage where I can do all the mager difficult work that needs doing for registration.

I know the oil seals are 26 years old and won't last for ever. Will they be easy to fix later on if they start leaking? or should I replace them all now while I'm overhauling everything else?

Thanks for reading this.

The three front seals are easy. But you must remove the tranny to replace the rear main seal, and that's a bit of a job.

If the car's a manual transmission, consider changing the clutch, t/o bearing, and pilot bearing at the same time. And take the opportunity to examine the ring gear teeth for excessive wear.

well hey it's sunday morning I'm gonna throw in my 2 cents worth... I think I would change as many seals as possible right now, for the most part... especially if it has sat for a while, you most certianly are going to have leaks shortly after you hit the road, personally I find this discouraging after having put my blood sweat and tears into a project then 3 days after it is "finished" find that I have 2 or 3 leaks to fix and its back to the shop or worse yet "run it that way" for a couple of weeks till the parts come in, making a mess and taking all the fun out of crawling under the hood again.

But on the other hand some leaks actually might get better my, steering rack stopped leaking after I got it on the road for a little bit. Although I would absolutly change any that you have easy access to while making other repairs.

Steering rack not a problem 200

I don't think the steering rack will leak, because the only power assist my steering has is in my arms! Less to go wrong (I can still spin it from lock to lock one handed with the tyres inflated and the car stationary - I love volvos)

If you're going to do a timing belt change, you might as well do the front seal replacement as well, if your intention is to change them regardless whether they are leaking or not.

Hard to change? Not really once the timing belt is off And nothing is seized).
