Replacing 85' 240 '511 ECM/ECU with a '554 200

About a year ago I replaced the '511 Jetronic ECM on my 85' 240 with a '544. About 3 months ago the '544 started giving me some drivability problems that caused the car to stall after some driving. I replaced the '544 with the old '511 and the car drives ok now. I found somebody who is willing to sell me
a '554 ECM which he says is an updated version of the '544 that solved some of the drivability problems that the '544 was causing in some automatics.

Now my question is. Will the '554 ECM work on my 85' 240. I assume the LH 2.2 is compatible with the LH 2.0.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Mike

Good question and your info is pretty much correct at least the reputed 554 upgrade. However, I will say that when I put a 554 in my 86 245 (M46) it did not drive well at all and I stuck the 544 back in pronto. Anyone selling you an ECU should agree to take it back if you are not happy. Then too, so few 511/544/554s fail that the market for used ones is very week and you should not pay more than $50 for one. The salvage yards are full of perfectly good ones.
