i'm thinking about buying a 780 '88 with the V6 engine. is it true that the gas mileage of this engine is city: 17 and hwy: 21??
Also i got confused with the price - Kelly blue book says around $2.000,- but you find on the net prices between $5.000 and $1.400. So, what's a serious offer??
I also have no experince with the 6 cylinder (i'm quite familiar with the 4 cyl) Are ther any known problems??
thx for any hints and tips

stefan

My only experience (and it will be my last) with the Volvo V-6 was actually about 14-15 city, maybe 18 highway. Terrible gas mileage and not enough power over the 4 cyl to make it worth it. I worked in sales at a Volvo dealership for awhile and all the mechanics said stay away from the V-6
Just my 2cents worth.

There are no less that 3 variations on the V-6 (I'm talking USA here)

The B27F ran from '76-79. Not a good motor, poor mileage, not much power.

The B28F went from '80-'86. See B27F

The B280F came in '87 thru the end of V-6 models. Exception: the '86 780 had the B280F. All 780 V-6 had it. MUCH better motor, but by then the V-6 had gotten such a bad rap that nobody bought it anyhow.
