Adhessive for attaching backup lens on Volvo Wagon? 200

Brickboarders,

I just got back-up light plastic covers (seems to be a peculiar weakness because the other plastic covers don't fall off) for my Volvo Wagon and have been wordering what to attach them with. Which adhesive-sealant has worked well for you (and which should I stay away from)? Your input will be appreciated.

Mike

I use 3-M emblem sealer which is clear, and holds very well once you scrape the old crud out with. NAPA has it for about 4 bucks a tube... It is very much like weather sealers which is yellow, or black.... Mac

I used 3M weatherstrip adhesive on mine, its black, nasty and gets all over the place...but it does seem to hold well I was real careful and did not get any on the middle of the lens...and only a little in my beard, not sure I recomend it but it does work well.

Goop is good. And why is the reverse lens the only separate lens, anyway?

Apparently, the reverse lens tends to fall off much more frequently than the others. If you look at the used taillights for sale on http://www.car-part.com , you'll find some with missing reverse lenses.

The instructions say to use silicone adhesive, which is available at hardware stores. To get the best fit, you'll want to scrape all of the old adhesive off of the taillight cluster.

Thanks for all of the input. I ended up getting a tube of the Goop at one of our parts places. Worked very well. Car looks a lot nicer now.
