Water pump/Coolant bypass hose

Hello, everybody.

I put in a new water pump and thermostat in our 245. I got the car up to running temperature and there is a leak where the coolant bypass hose (the red metal one) meets the water pump. I put in the new o-ring gasket durins insallation, but I stripped out the little clamp bolt that goes below the hose. I had it on there pretty good, and then stripped it trying to get the nut on the back on tighter. Is it important to get that clamp really, really tight?

Any suggestions besides a new clamp bolt? I am worried that the hose didn't meet the o-ring very well.

Thanks in advance.

I think the new bolt should take care of it. I have done a few of these and never had a leak from the red pipe. I don't think it will seal properly without the clamp in place. Probably not enough compression on the seal without it.
