Glove box glue? 200 1984

Okay, I know someone out there has a secret. What type of glue should one use to glue the glove box cover back on the metal. I don't want to waste my time doing the trial and error thing. I'd rather hear it from someone who knows. Silicone? Gorilla snot? Epoxy?

Not super high tech (don't know about Elmer's woody glue, though - butt hay if it works, goferit!).

I used the 3M trim adhesive 5+ years ok on the 245 with zero probs. Kinda yellowish. Don't use too much. The sh%t is kinda ugly so don't let it dribble on your gf's plastic skirt or anything...last time I dribbled something on her skirt she was all mad at me.

I'm sure any of the new generation RTV adhesives would be fine.

I've done a bunch of 240 glove box doors, always used cheap, clear silicone RTV, always worked great.

I keep it simple. I used Elmers wood glue, alot of it. I put a peice of wood on each side,as backing plates and clamped it together for 24 hours.Of course everything was out of the car!Good luck!

Always used clear silicone RTV with good results. About to do the 740 glovebox. I thought only 240's fell apart like that....

I am pretty sure it was the 740 glove box, but might have been an earlier 240. To be honest, I am still looking for the remainder of the tube of adhesive. It is proably not any good, I just want to know what happened to it. Have you ever layed down a tool or part and not be able to find it one minute later? Frustrating!!

When I was a younger man, memories were crystal clear. Even if the memory is failing, I have more patience today. Not a bad trade all things concicered.

I used urethane to glue mine on. Get it at a windshield place. Paul

I've used plain and simple silicone, which worked excellent. I've heard rave about 3M. Just don't get angry at your glovebox because it's not staying shut and glue it closed like I did with my last Volvo.

When it coms to auto adhesive, you have to try to go wrong with 3M. I used 3M trim adhesive on 740 glovebox about 4 years ago and still holding. I don't remeber the product number, but it was sort of yellow/green color.
