Turning left stall situation/now no start 200 1988

I got an email from my son who has Stan our 88DL (223,000)at college. He said while making a left turn the call stalled but started right back up. 30 minutes later while making another left turn into a parking lot the car stalled again and will not start. A cooling off period didn't make a change.

I have sent him an email telling him to:
1. Check the battery connection to make sure the 25 amp fuse wire is tight (I know it is clean it was just cleaned before returning to school, perhaps I didn't tighten it but I don't think so).

2. Remove and replace the 25 amp fuse after checking it. Again a long shot as it was cleaned before heading for school.

3. Attach the jumper wire between fuses 4 and 6 and see if the car starts. If it does replace the fuelpump relay that is waiting in the glovebox for just such an occasion. Again a long shot the current relay was resoldered not that long ago.

That is about all I can do from three hours away to help him at this point. I have a box of spares that has an alternator, a fuelpump, and a distributor but unfortunately this son is the musician and not mechanically inclined.

Anybody have any ideas on the connection of the left turn and stalling/no start. I had that once but it turned out to be the wire on the battery that supplies the 25 amp fuse was loose.

This car had major freshening up before going off to school. Timing belt, seals, ignition wires, fuel filter, etc.

Thanks for any ideas to explore.

Randy

Pre-pump ever been replaced??? And how much gas did it have? Close to empty or full?

Actually the first question I asked him was how much gas is in the car??

As it turns out it was the 25amp fuse and holder. The first stall evidently coincided with a left turn AND a pothole. When he took my checklist back to the car he found the fuse holder had fallen apart. Apparently the second left turn allowed the assembly to ground and blew the fuse. A new 25 amp fuse and three layers of electrical tape got him up and running. I will need to replace the holder when he comes home. Thanks for the response.

Randy
