How long does the oil filler cap gasket last ? I changed mine 5 months 5000km ago and just changed the oil ( dino to Mobil 1 ) and noticed that the gasket was vomiting oil again - #2 I opened the hood to find the source of a horrible sound and discovered that the belt guard from the alternator had snapped off and was rubbing on the pulley- do I need this thing ? my car is the only one I have seen with one

Clean your flame trap, intake system vacuum nipples, and oil breather box to make certain that the breather system is operating correctly. If this fails, oil will be blown out the filler cap and through the oil seals.

done, all new hoses and flame trap within the past 1000k

I just replace both the oil cap seal and altenator belt and the oil cap still leaks but very slight I think mybe the wear in the cylinders causeing higher crankcase pressure. and If you work on your car and something gets caught in the blades of the altenator you would be in some serious pain Its worth replacing it
