Brakes S90-V90

Anyone have any experience with drilled and sloted rotors? I seem to use the brakes pretty hard (daily stops from 70 -75 on ~ 12% hill) and they have a tendency to not run true and wear quickly. I am about to try some drilled and sloted rotors. Any comments would be appreciated.

Not to be too obvious, but if you are having problems with the rotors warping, make sure that when you mount the wheels, you torque the nuts down to 65 lbs with a torque wrench. Using an impact wrench is a no-no. (I learned the hard way). Still, the original rotors lasted well over 100K even using the impact wrench. When I got some replacement "OEM grade" rotors from carparts.com (JC WHITENEY), those warped in no time. I then ordered a set of zimmerman rotors from fcpgroton and they are fine. These are standard grade rotors, no drilling, they have drilled rotors, but that may be overkill for what you need.

A torque wrench?? No joke? I just stand on a long breaker bar just to make sure they are really tight and won't fall off...LOL

I think eviltwin may have stumbled upon your problem! Overtorquing will definitely cause warping.

I didn't know what to make of this guy's last post. Nowadays, you have to tread lightly or you step on somebody's toes. I'll be the first to admit to a warped set of rotors over a torque wrench. If he thought it was a joke, thats his problem.

Folks, give me a little credit. It's a joke that one would install wheels without a torque wrench these days. Just for the record I also tighten all lugs snug first (alternating sides) and then tighten to the correct torque.

Also I thought LOL was understood as laughing out loud???
