86 - 740 IC Turbo Wire Harness 700

All,

Why is it that Volvo made such bad wireharness'??

Has anyone tried to remake a wireharness on a 740. Mine has rotted at the lower end of the injector harness where it runs down the block, a common problem it seems.

How about a replacement or alternative???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Graham

You can patch it by cutting out the biodegraded wires and solder in new, don't use cheap butt connectors or you'll be doing it again real soon. There is a guy who sells good used harnesses, Dave's 245 site or something like that.
I finally got tired of patching and bought a new harness from Beechmont Volvo for about $350 although you may find a better deal somewhere else. IPD is now selling harnesses too.

So many problems could be caused because of messed up problems hidding in your wire harness, do you really want to spend the huge amount of cash replacing everything in the car when it is just a harness prob? As for patching I wish I still had my old harness around so I could post a pic. When removed I found so many hidden sections of wire devoid of insulation and it is a miracle my car was even starting w/o killing itself. Look around the FAQ for Dave's site. I ordered from him for ~160 and the silghtly used one I got had barely any oil or use marks on the plasitc.
