940 bumpers/rubber treatments 900

My 94 944 with turbo package has gray plastic-coated bumpers. They've been gray since I bought the car five years ago.I recently tried a little cheap silicone tire/bumper spray on a section and it looks black. What were these bumpers when new?Gray or black? What's the board's opinion(s) on silicone sprays/Armorall for vinyl, rubber, etc?I once heard treating rubber boots, hoses ,etc with "rubber lube" is a good idea.Anyone know what this is and where to get it? sredwine 138K on the 940,68K on V90

My son's "94-944T is black. The three '95s are black. My 945 is slightly faded on some of the top surfaces, but it is still black. Check the underside. It's possible that they are not the original. If your's is in fact black, I've heard "Forever Black", with the foam applicator from IPD, works. Nothing that I have tried so far has lasted beyond a rain.

I used the Forever Black stuff from IPD on my bumpers last fall, and they still look great now... and my car is exposed to the elements (and who knows what else... parked on city street!) 100% of the time.

When I applied the stuff, I took my time doing the prep/cleaning, and used a rag to apply rather than the foam pad.

Last month I repainted the (formerly gray) bumpers on my '92 940 gloss black with a urethane bumper coater from SEM and they look great. It comes in a spray can (I ordered two). Just mask off the car with tarps and lots of masking tape and spray multiple light coats. Looks professional. Check out the link below:

I would bet they are black...

I use 'black magic' its clear liquid about
the consistancy of honey.. It works real
well to turn the bumpers black and keep them
black
