Had a great time at Mount Snow ... and was really happy to put a face on such well known Brickboarders as Rob "AYE ROLL" Bareiss and his SO and Greg Wong .... (Greg .. we MUST have a discussion about your driving style for AutoCross ;-)). I was really surprised when the beautiful 220 wagon that was parked beside me suddenly pulled a vanish only to be replaced with a certain red 1966 P 1800 with that MILNMLR front plate .... I really do suspect subterfuge there, as I hear that Will Van Allen showed up with a camera shortly afterwards :-) ... What he unfortunately missed was seeing #2 getting a boost from #1 as my battery went flat as a flounder after the guys with me( Richard"ANARCHISTNS"Burnell and my son Iain) had the CD player running for 6 hours straight .... but I KNOW there are pictures out there as the clicking of shutters was almost deafening ...... one of the guys with me actually got a couple of shots .. :-) .... Thankfully, the engine caught very quickly to avoid further embarassment .... looks like a new and bigger battery is going to have to be purchased before winter.

OK now to the paint part of the question. I am not happy with my paint job and it has been suggested that wet sanding and compounding will rectify the problem. Does anyone know what grit paper to start with? How many different grits to use and after which grit do I switch to rubbing compound? And ... how many different grits of rubbing compound to use. I now have a good weather tight concrete floored area to work in (Saints be praised!!) so I hope I will get it done over the winter.

You should be talking to a good body shop or restorer for sandpaper advice.

Enamel does not sand well, lacquer does.

My buddy's father used 220 with a rubber block, then 360 and 520,

Sand WET - he had the sandpaper in one hand and a sponge dripping water over the sanding area in the other.

Stay away from sharp edges, they probably already have thin paint already.

Thanks James .... I was thinking about going much finer on the paper probably starting with 400 and working up to 800 or 1000 then going to rubbing compound .... BTW the paint is Acrylic Enamel .....
