240 tailights: can you clean inside? 200

Is it possible to clean the insides of the red panels on the later 240's? I have tried rinsing them, swabbing them with a flexible brush and cloths. I drilled good drain holes in them the other day.

Seems that dirty, heavy smut seems to hang on in the corners or wraparounds of the bottom red panels. Is there any acid you can slosh around in there? By the way...are those corners accessible?

240 tailights: can you clean inside? 200

I cleaned mine out shortly after I got my car and learned about drilling holes by removing them (obviously) and just using the hot water from the bathtub to fill them up and kinda use the trapped air when sloshing the water around to kinda "catch" the slime and dump it out. Repeat until clean. It took me a while to get them to the point where I was satisfied, but I don't know of a good solvent that might work better. Maybe like CLR or something? I don't know what kind of effect it (or others like it) would have on the plastic though.

Good luck,
Seth
