something irritating in the air (heating system) 200 1986

I have resisted posting this question because it seems like an imagined problem, but here goes.... I had the blower motor re-done 2 years ago and ever since I have noticed, with the heat on full (the control is busted so it's always full hot) i am ever so slightly aware of a my eyes getting irritated-like you're at a chlorinated pool or have stayed up a long time. It seems like a crazy idea but it doesn't seem to happen in other cars, as far as i have been in others, in the winter. I have just started using heat again this year so that's why it's on my mind. I dont have any loss of coolant - but is it possible to have a slight leak that would put a vapor into the blower? Or with the AC system - is there any way conceivably that a refrigerant leak could somehow come into the cabin?

As far fectched as these questions could be, i thought i'd give them a shot. If anyone has heard of anything like this or have the technical savvy to explain the possibilities it would be great.

asummersby....anwintersatthedoor,

Yes, there could be a slight leak of either or (coolant/ refrigerant), also could be the extream heat, as in other post.
There are ways to have your car checked for leaks. Not sure how to go about it on a self diagnose...check the archives, should be something there.

Try fixing that heat control unit......not too difficult.

Hope it doesn't get too cold.

Al

Is it possible that the air coming into the car is so hot and dry that it irritates your eyes? I ask because my life partner often insists that the temperature be set on "desert noon" when we are going somewhere. I have learned (took nearly thirty years) that I shouldn't wear a coat, but there is little that I can do about the dry eyes. Fix the temperature control. Chances are that the control cable can be reattatched.
