ADVICE needed regarding purchase of 740 Turbo wagon 700 1989

I recently test drove a 1989 Volvo Turbo wagon with 181,000KM (112,000mi).

It drove smoothly, lots of power and was quite comfortable. It did seem to
float a bit with highway driving, and had a slight random creak in the front
end (sounded like a strut)--it wasn't something I heard consistently.

Sunroof doesn't work, and front fender has some small damage. There's also
some rust emerging under paint of tailgate (car is originally from
Edmonton). There's a few cracks in dash and some minor splits in rear seats. If I do purchase it, I'll have the engine compression tested et al.

I think the engine was a B21 or B23 (I'll check tomorrow when I get VIN info).

The gentlemen whom has it for sale is asking $6000 Canadian. Does anyone have comments/feedback about this particular wagon and the price?

Thanks

Norm Cook

Check out www.autotrader.ca where you can compare any year and model vehicle to other being listed. I did that for my 91 745 turbo, which I bought for $5200. It was very clean and had none of the issues you refer to. Either I got a great deal or your car is a over priced. Good luck.

Yes, that price would have to be totally without having to do one single thing to that car. I recently paid $2500 for a 89 760ti, and have put that much back into the car to make it go fast and safe. Seems a bit pricey to me plus way too many miles.
