Muffler problems 200

Bricksters-

Rear muffler pipe separated from resonator- can this hole be patched temporarily? And, can i replace part of the system w/out wrecking all of it? The whole thing was replaced perhaps 2 yrs ago. Any estimates how long these things last? I live in DE, and winters are not extremely harsh, but have seen some snow and salt. Also, not related, but: i pulled off my pre-heat hose when i replaced my AMM in August. Do i NEED this part in cold weather, or can i do w/ out? Thanks for any advice!

The preheat hose does just that - brings warm air into the carberator intake.

You did not say what year of 240 you drive - but sensors and computers can be thrown off by air being too cold.

Most cars benefit from the warm air intake...

As far as the muffler - if the pipes are sound - yes you can replace part of the system.

2 years is not a long time for a system.

hello in cold weather i believe you should have the preheat hose. here in florida i take all mine off. and i will soon replace my entire exaust system and plan to do away with the resonater i think ipd sells a pipe section that goes in place of the resonater. and it is pre formed and pre cut.
