Oil on top of the charcoal canister??? 900 1991

Hey guys,

I just noticed that there is an oil leak somewhere close to the charcoal canister...just not sure where this oil is coming from..everytime i clean the top of the canister..it gunks right up with a film of oil..also hits the side of my battery..where could this leak be..are there any oil lines around or near the canister? thanks.

depends on your car exactly, but if it is oil i would bet on one of two sources...(from my car!)

1) oil cooler, situated on the side of the radiator above canister - any leak from this or its hoses...

2) oil in the turbo air hoses..if you havent cleaned them out and you are using some oil the small hose between the intercooler and the main metal air pipe can accumulate oil and leak it fro mthe fittings (or i beleive this hose is prone to holes..)

I would degrease the engine bay thouroughly, removethe turbo air pipes (easy to do..!) and clean them out thoroughly then see if it happens again and if you can spot the cause....
