Road salt season is coming. Any suggestions on mud flaps that fit a 91 740? 700 1991

I want to keep the salt away as much as possible. Any brand name and price quotes would be useful. Thanks.

Hi Allan,

I have the custom Volvo mudguards on my 745T. They fit pretty much perfect and work well. They're a little pricey if I remember correctly, but it's pretty much one of those "you get what you pay for" situations. The Volvo mudguards also have some extentions built into them to protect inside the fender as well. Check www.volvoworld.com or your local Volvo dealer. I put some cheap ones on my 745NA though, and they work pretty well, but don't fit or look nearly as good as the Volvo ones. I'm like the store your car idea too. I have the winter beater (745NA), I just need a place to put the 745T! We already store my dad's '93 Acura Vigor, but we only have storage space for that. I'm considering self storage for the 745T...... Also, my Volvo mechanic does this crazy rustproofing. He uses a product called Fluidfilm (http://www.eurekafluidfilm.com/home.htm). He strips the interior and sprays the fluidfilm wherever he can get it to protect the body. He doesn't drill holes or anything like that. My 745T is coated with the stuff, and I'm planning to do the 745NA soon. It's the best rustproofing method I've ever seen. Anyway, good luck with your Volvo this winter, I hope it makes it through ok :)

I fitted a pair of universal molded ones (they wrap around on the sides to cover the fender a little bit) on the mine's ... works just fine. Drilled the holes to line up with existing fender liner bolts. Costed $10.

But the best way to keep the salt off is not to drive it at all ... that's what sub-$500 beater cars are for - you'd care much less if some idiot who can't drive in the snow rams into ya.
