Steering Rack Install-740 700

Help--since Search engine is down cannot access the past recommendations on installing the steering rack on a 1989 740. Would someone with experience please give me a blow by blow, so I can do this weekend??

I've done this on a 90 740. It was not that bad. There is a clinching bolt on the steering shaft. Just a few nuts hold the rack in. The hardest part that I can remember is taking off the tie rod ends. I would have some spares on hand, they can get mangled taking them off.

Make sure to mark the steering wheel location so that it stays straight on reassembly.

As long as you can get the car steady on jack stands you should have no problem with this job.
