Rear end cover 700

Does anyone know what the electrical switch or connection is mounted to the back of my differential cover? I have an 89 740GL. I really hope this has nothing to do with the rear being a "locker" since I just filled it with regular 80/90 weight.

It is the electrical connection for your speedometer. The speedo works off electrical impulses from the optical sensor in the differential.

It isn't a locker, although there is the possibility it is limited slip. Not that likely, though.

The electrical connection is for the speedo sensor and is also used as an ABS sensor (if equipped).
