Heater core leak?? 200 1984

Getting coolant smell in the passenger area and steaming up the windshield big time when I run the defroster with heat. No noticeable leaks inside the car or in the engine compartments. Any body out there with this type of problem before have any advice?? Keith

The leaked coolant may remain inside the air plenum, thus it would "make mist" but not show up on carpet. The stop-leak product to try is "Bars Leaks". It may or may not work, but it's not expensive - worth a try.

Good Luck,

Bob

BTW: Another job to perform while replacing the heater core is replacing the heater hot water valve.

Had same problem in another car and unfortunately you are correct- it was the heater core. I had it replaced ($500 or so-can't remember). Try the stuff you put in the radiator to seal leaks???? Did not work for me though.
