Wet trunk 200

Hi,

Due to the current rainy spell, water has been seepin thru my 92, 240 sedan trunk, wetting the carpet inside. How can I stop this.
Thanks.

Saidee.

Gotta find the leak.

Right after the rain, look at the tail light lenses while you stand beside the car and bump it sideways. Look for waves of water inside the lights. Then look at the back of the tail lights. Water gets inside the lights (ofter the reverse light) and then flows out the back through the bulb holder and ultimately into the pad and carpet.

If you see no wetness on the back of the tail light, take out each bulb holder and look inside the light housing. There should be no dirt on the bottom of the light housing. Dirt means leak.

See FAQs about fixing leaky tail lights.

Get the carpet and padding out and drying ASAP. Be sure to pop out the two little clips before trying to yank out the carpet.

Good Luck,

Bob
