Front tires tight turns? 200 1988

My 88 245 has an odd skip to the front wheels when I turn in a parking or tight lane situation. It seems the turn radius is to tight for the tires and they slid or are forced to make the turn. I'm not at full lock either left or right sometimes I'm no where near full lock. My tire size are the recomended and are in good shape. Thanks for the help.

Quite normal on the 240's when cranked near full lock. If yours is scrubbing at "no where near full lock" you need the wheels aligned. When I'm in those parking garages with the very smooth concrete floors, one (maybe both?) front tires actually squeal a little when maneuvering out of tight spaces. This, right after an alignment.

Volvo's have a famously tight turning circle, but the price is that the tyres easily scrub if you use it. You have to go very slowly! It depends too on the road surface. If you try full lock on gravel at speed you go straight on.
