jolt when shifting 700 1989

My ’89 740 with 200 k miles suddenly developed a problem shifting from first to second gear (auto transmission). It shifts with a hard jolt – like a 2 mph bump from behind. All other shifts are smooth, and the first shift on cold mornings are smoother than when it has warmed up. I’ve had the transmission fluid flushed and the screen replaced. There is no play in the U-joints. Thanks for your help.

Could be a stuck kick-down cable -- stuck pulled out or partially pulled out. But it sounds more like worn balls in the valve body assembly.
