'89 240 crank sensor. 200

Does anyone know where I can buy an engine speed sensor for an '89 240?Also,
how difficult is this job and what tools would I need? thanks

The sensor may be hard to get off or stuck to the mounting bracket.Be careful not to break the mounting bracket - I did and had to glue it together with JD weld (been holding for 3 years) the only other option to fix it if you break it is to drop the tranny so beware

Buy it from RPR or a Volvo dealer.

You need a 10mm flatwrench, and small flashlight, and lots of patience.

Work from the passenger side under the hood.

Not sure about an 89 240, but I replaced it in my 94 940. You'll have to crawl into the engine compartment to get at it. It looks difficult, but it's really not that bad. One bolt and hopefully it'll come right out. Don't pull too hard on the wire. If it's stuck, use penetrating oil and 'fiddle' with it. As to where to get it, a Volvo specialized shop or dealer. Your local discount auto parts place most likely wont have it.
BTW. My car wouldn't run and replacing this part didn't fix it.
