Replacing broken odometer gear, Need Help to open unit

I need advice on how to separate the face/front section of the speedometer unit from the back section,to get to the odometer gear.

I removed the 4 screws on the back, and this loosens the back portion but there still something holding them together and can't figure it out. Do I need to remove the needle from the front? If so, how do I do it without breaking the unit?, or is there another solution that I am missing.

I would appreciate any help/hints on this.

Thanks a bunch

I found the answer to my question in an old post.

For those that might want to know:

The needle does need to come off and is done by turning needle counterclocwise until it loosens and pulling it out gently.

Persistence pays off.

I have a complete instrument cluster for a 1991 turbo, if you need it.
