What is this? 200 1978

Hey guys,

I was just looking through the old repair records etc. that came with my '78 244 DL. I came across an old dealer invoice that says in '01 the "chair bushings" in the front end were replaced. I'm glad to hear it, but I have a question- What the heck is a chair bushing? I know a little about cars, but this is a new one on me.

Thanks,
Matt

Hello,

Perhaps the bill is referring to Control Arm Bushings, or c-arm (easily converted to chair in mechanic scrawl) bushings. Good on whoever!!!

That's not a bad theory, but the bill is a computer printout- quite clearly says "chair". Maybe it was an interpretation by the dealer secretary?

If the car wasn't buried in 1 1/2 feet of snow, I guess I could look for "newish" suspension parts...But the odo has been broken at least 2-3 years, and the PO was a semi-abusive, semi-clueless teenage kid, so who knows how new they would look anymore?
