242 seats into 244?

For some reason my '84 242 seats don't fit into my '86 244. Anyone ever experience this and is there any solution? The bolt holes appear to line up off-kilter, not just a different length between holes. Another alternative is to rebuild the seats with new foam (the cloth covers are OK). Anyone have experience doing that - best supplier for the foam etc? Thanks.

I think you'll find that one side of the tracks moved independent of the other. Once they're unbolted from the car, nothing keeps the two sides in line with each other, if you pull the handle.
I know of all kinds of year-to-year swaps including my friend's lovely '75 164E, with leather 1990 244GL seats in it! You just need to fiddle with it to make it all line up again.

Direct swap. Try again, sometimes it just needs squaring up and get all bolts started. No way stock seats will not fit unmodified 240s, any year or door number.
