Stalling 240 200 1989

Pulled in the driveway last night, parked. Car was running great.

This morning, started car to warm it up (28F this morning) got in 15 min
later and pulled out of driveway. Car was OK for about 100 feet, then began to loose power, almost as if running out of gas.

Bought some injector cleaner and added it to an already full tank of
name brand gas.

Car starts and idles OK, just will not pull itself down the road.

Before I let the mechanic go on an "easter egg hunt", where do I look?

MAP sensor?
Fuel filter?
Vacuum leak?

Took the words right out of my mouth. Five minutes maximum was what I was always told. Of course that was close to thirty years ago. When they first started putting catalytic converters on cars, alot of them got junked because of cold start/ prolonged warmup idling. Seems that the converters would not get up to operating temp and would plug up. Perhaps that is what happened. If that was the case, buy an engine heater if you require your car to be toasty when you get ready to go out. Lot cheaper than a converter.

The few times I've had stalling problems the cause has been the fuel pump fuse in the fusebox. Several times the fuel pump fuse has started to go bad, causing intermittant stalling. Just replacing the fuse in the fuese box by the driver's left foot has fixed my problem. Good luck.

I would diagnose what effect engine compartment teperature has on this behaviour.

If it only occures when hot, could be AMM or even faulty signal from o2 sensor.
Try unplugging AMM (WHILE CAR OFF) and see if it helps significantly. If so, then likely AMM. If not, then likely not.

If the problem is there when cold too I would look for a torn off vacuum hose at the intake.

Not sure what else... maybe check too if your fuel pressure regulatro is leaking out of the vacuum line by pulling the vacuum line at the front and see if there is fuel - if so replace it at once.

but I vote air or mixture problem before lack of fuel. Lack of fuel usually causes bogging or stalling, not just lack of power.

Just replaced my amm this morning, same symptoms, my main problems was at intersections so I fixed it asap. Disconnect the electrical to the amm, and secure it far enough away so as not to arc. Shift the car mannually from 1st and up, utilize your overdrive on slopes. If it is the amm, this will atleast get you from a to b. I picked up a used part for under $80

I have the same problem with my '86 but stalling only when warm. What is an AMM? I've worked lots on older cars (60's & 70"s american made) but never a Volvo. Its a first. I tried the fuse, -Didn't work.
