Early break light part question 200 1979

Hi All, I was hoping that some one might know of a quick fix, or a source for this part. It is in my brake light set up. (early style, not wrap around) The part in question is the beige piece that the bulb fits into. Mine was corroded, so I went to the indi-garage's parts dept, no luck. I was lucky enough to find a pre 80 sedan at the boneyard awhile back, but it's sockets were slightly different, but I was able to fashion it's socket for a quick-fix. Well its broken again. I hard bump and I lose my one sides light, bulb pops right out. Any ideas? Thanks as always! Take care

Early break light part question 200 1979

My old 1979 245DL is still sitting here, and it has two pretty good tail light units. I think one side got a chip in one of the lenses, but there was never a problem while I was using the car.

Having the bulb holder pop out of the frame seems odd. Are the three locking tabs OK? What if you swap holders right for left - do they stay in better? I suppose that the holders are the same sedan vs wagon, and from year to year. Why complicate the inventory system if it's not necessary?

Let me know if you would be interested in the tail lights.

Regards,

Bob

Early break light part question 200 1979

Hi. Thanks for responding. I agree that the bulb sockets would be easier kept the same for wagons and sedans alike. I found that my connecters were corroded, while I was tring to clean it, I broke it. Figuring that they were the same sockets, sedans vs. wagons, I bought some at the boneyard from a sedan, and then realized the difference. I still fudged it to work, that's why it keeps popping off. I, for now, am tring to avoid buying new light units due to all the other problems that I can't fudge for almost nothing. I am certinly intrested, please mail me with a price. I might have to wait a few months, $$$ is a big issue now 'cuz of the holiday season. Take care, and Happy New Year.

Early break light part question 200 1979

Hi -

Going over the two posts here, I have to admit I am not sure of just what you need. Is it the bulb holders for the 245 tail lights? Or is it the part that the bulb holders fit into? Or do you need a whole tail light?

The last time I looked in there was a decade ago, or so.

Let me know what parts you need. I would rather see parts go to help another brickhead that see them off to the junkyard.

Regards,

Bob
