MAS problems... need to find a replacement 200

I think I have a bad mass air flow sensor but I wanted to verify that is the problem before I replace it. Basically what happens when you start the car is that it revs to 2000 rpms for 3 secs.. Sounds real nice.. then it proceeds to stumble down till it stalls. If you rhythmical pump the gas is slow intervals you can keep the car running. If you just hold down the gas it will die. When I pull the connector to the MAS the car will run without any real trouble just smells rich. Also I’ve tested the wiring harness with respect to the MAS and it seems fine.

Are there any good tests I can do on the MAS?

Does anyone know where I can get a good replacement? Are there any compatible MAS for my car? The MAS I have was only used in 1982's B21F-LH non-turbo (bosch # 0-280-212-001)

Thanks
Frank

MAS problems... need to find a replacement 200

Well, I just looked in my parts books, and you are correct - that AMF/MAS/AMM device was used in the 1982, and not in any other models covered. Previous years had the K-jet and subsequent years had the Bosch numbers 002, 007 or 016.

May be bad news, but hopefully this can save you some wasted searching time.

Your testing seems to accurately diagnose the AMM as having failed.

    Good Luck,

    Bob
