Radio/lighter fuse blows 200

When plug in phone charger with radio on, fuse blows. Checked radio wiring, making sure wiper linkage was not cutting in wire and OK. Anyone have suggestion?

Thanks, Gary

It's a long shot, since I don't know the year of your 240, but on my '80 245DL, the rear tailgate wiper motor is on the same fuse as the radio/lighter/etc... Well, the hot wire from the wiper motor came loose, and touched the frame of the car, resulting in a blown fuse every time I turned the key.

That took a bit of figuring out...

Just take a look behind your center council and see how the wiring is. Something must be shorting somewhere.

Try the lighter. If fuse blows with the lighter too, probable socket problem. If it does not, phone charger plug fault.

Checked the proper fuse size (8). I have not checked lighter socket, I'll do that. I know the charger is good, because works on other car.

Thanks guys
