Found another 140 series car with a 20v in it.. this one in canada.

"This car is running a light-pressure turbo B5254 engine from an S70,
an M46 transmission and the original differential. (Pickering, 2001)"

Interesting indeed!

I'd like to know how they mated an M46 to the 5cyl engine. Anyhow it's good to know it can be done.

That picture was taken about an hour and halfs drive from my house. There is a chance that I could come across the car and its owner at a car show some day. It would be extremely interesting to talk to someone who did something like that.

Tell me about it. It's not just fantastically clean with a serious 5 cyl engine swap, it's also straight as an arrow. Must be some fantasy car :)

What kind of trans do you guys think it has? I also don't see any wiring harness.

My sometimes random memory is not to be trusted, but it's telling me there's a VW tranny that bolts up... ???

Was the 20v only avaialable in FWD? Fwd engines arn't as hard to convert to RWD as one would initially think (unless it's a mini). I know several people who have done it with little hastle. As for the wiring harness why would you expect to see it?

Are you saying the mini engine is hard to convert to RWD? Which one are you talking about?

Ack I have gotten myself into a box without even trying :) I just meant to say that most FWD engines are pretty much the same deal just mounted differently. The old mini transmission mounts up to where the oilpan would be on a regular car if my memory serves me correctly. So it's just different. You can still mount it north-south like any other engine to power the rear wheels.

Let's not forget 140-160

That the A series engine came in the MG Midget, AH Sprite, Moris Minor and of course the mini. The Mini being the only fwd. Rylies (sp?) don't count.
Sorry to "box you in" but I had to go there because it was too EZ :)

I believe the architecture of the 20v 5-cyl fwd and the 24v 6-cyl rwd is the same so the transmission from a 960 would fit providing the clearance will allow. Also, the rumor is that these newer engines were designed by Audi/Porsche (depending on the source). So maybe a late VW trans would bolt on the block, but I don't know.
