HELP! 200 1983

Hey y'all
I'm at work right now, and like the moron i am, i locked my keys in my 240. Any tips or tricks to help me recover my lunch that's waiting for me inside it?
My spare key is at home..........

SUCCESS!
THe guitar repair guys downstairs helped me out and constructed various wood wedges to pull the door frame back a bit, and i coathangered it open.
I don't think i'm going to do that again.......... hopefully......

Good for you!

Dumbest thing about the time I locked myself out of my '84, I had the keys in my hand at the time! Found out the hard way that a PO had changed the ignition, so the door-key was long gone. ARRGH! Even tried crawling into the trunk, pushing down the rear center armrest, and coathanger-ing the rear doorhandle. That's how I found out the child-lock levers were engaged. A VERY frustrating day- glad yours turned out better.

I had a friend once do that with the car idling and in the middle of the road!

I actually did that once too. But it was in my moms new oldsmobile. I got out at about 2 a.m. to get something out of the trunk, and the auto locks locked it behind me, with the engine running and the music playing. Unfortunatly i realized that JUST as the trunk slammed shut... I even left my phone inside too......

Man, I dunno... Same thing happened to me, and I found that Volvo made the 240 doors extremely resistant to the coathanger trick. Other than having somebody bring the spare key (if that's an option) the only thing I can think of is a coathanger... Forget trying to get between the door and the body, that won't happen. There is (probably) a gap between the rear edge of the lower window weatherstrip and the "shoulder" of the door. Stick you coathanger or slimjim down in there and fish around. Even then it won't be easy- took me more than 20 minutes, and I got lucky. I really hope it's warmer where you are than it is here...

Good luck!
